“If the whole body were an eye…” Paul’s vivid image invites expanding our understanding of spiritual gifts. In a modern ministry landscape, leadership looks far different than in the first century. Today we might recognize digital creators, social justice advocates, mental health companions, trauma‑informed listeners, artists, climate activists, and disability theologians as expressing the various gifts of ministry to the world around us.

Each reveals a facet of God’s presence. The Spirit still gives as she chooses (v.11)—often beyond traditional expectations.
