A Lent Calendar

Palm Sunday (March 29, 2026)

Palm Sunday is the beginning of Holy Week. On this day we remember Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem. There were two very different groups of people in Jerusalem at that time. Those who followed Jesus, his teachings, his compassion. They knew who he was for they experienced the love he shared.

Then there was the ruling class of Jerusalem and their followers. They were afraid of Jesus, what they believed he represented. In some way I suppose you could say that they could not experience him the way his followers did because they had already made up their minds, and anything he did would be interpreted in the light of their prejudice.

There is something to be said here about being in the present with an open mind, about trying to see beyond what we want to believe about anyone, including Jesus, God, creation and even the ruling class of that or our present time.

Where might I have jumped to a conclusion about someone or something? Where might I need to step back and look at things with a non-prejudicial lens?

Something to think about.
