A Lent Calendar

Monday of Holy Week (March 30, 2026)

Based on the stories in the Gospels, Jesus was very busy from Palm Sunday to Good Friday. Depending on the Gospel, Jesus taught, he held conversations, he healed, he made some changes to the kind of activities that took place in the temple, he told stories and predicted many different events, including the coming of God.

One of the stories about Jesus that takes place around or after Palm Sunday (depending on the Gospel you are reading) is the turning of the tables of the money changers. Jesus is upset that a sacred place set aside for contemplation and prayer had become filled with din of making deals, and in some cases exploiting the faithful to line the pockets of the establishment. Importance was taken away from what is God’s to the concerns and dealings of the world (remember the story of the images found on the coin from last week?).

When I think about my faith life, are there things that are distracting me from paying attention to the sacredness of thinking about God’s dream for me and the world?

Something to think about.
