Paul imagines a foot saying, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong.” These verses resonate with anyone who has felt out of place in faith spaces—those who were told they were “too much,” “not enough,” or “not the right kind.”

Today, many who are deconstructing or healing from spiritual harm read themselves into this text. Progressive theologians ask: "What creates these feelings of non-belonging? Who benefits when some voices are diminished?" The gospel calls us to listen especially to those who feel unseen.
