Yoly
Yolaine – or Yoly, as she likes to be called – started attending services at Eden United Church in 2023. She came to Canada in the Fall of 2023 with her husband, Jorge Figueredo (one of Eden’s trusted Audio-Visual Operators), from Holguin, Cuba. Yoly achieved a degree in industrial engineering from the University of Holguin in Cuba. She has 8+ years’ experience as a university professor! She also worked as a business development consultant in Cuba.
Once in Canada, Yoly started to work right away: first, as a Christmas Kettle Worker for the Salvation Army; then, as a Resident Support Aide at Wyndham Manor in Oakville; and after that, she started her own business in career guidance and resume-building.
Yoly started in March 2025 as Eden’s Office Administrator and has been enjoying working with and meeting all the people who come through our doors, organizing the office to make it more efficient, and learning all the “ins and outs” of the job. Yoly has a passion for teaching, helping and contributing to the lives of others. Yoly loves reading, travelling and learning new things! She and Jorge have also been very generous with their time, trying to teach us Spanish in Eden’s Club Espagnol.
