Children and Youth Programs

Confirmation

Eden offers a Youth Confirmation Program each year. This program meets from January to late May or early June, meeting on Sundays after church for a couple of hours. Youth must be at least 15 years of age.

Each youth chooses an adult mentor who walks with them through the confirmation program. Each mentor-confirmand pair engages in an Outreach project of their design.

Together we explore the basics of the Christian faith, topics of interest to the youth about their faith, and we bake bread for communion, design the confirmation service and write a personal creed that states our individual beliefs. Confirmation is one more step in the journey of faith.

Membership has its advantages, so different companies tell us.  What does it mean to be a member of the United Church of Canada, specifically Eden?

If this sounds like something you might be interested in exploring, then contact Barry or Evelyn for another soundbyte of information.

One of the unique things about Confirmation at Eden is that each confirmand (minimum age is 15 years old) is to invite a "mentor" to journey with them through this process. A mentor would be someone who the confirmand would want to share their questions, insights, wonderings with. It might be a former Sunday School teacher, or someone who is involved at the Board level, or someone who they see involved in outreach or someone who sits near them during worship.
