Baptism

The United Church of Canada understands baptism as the rite of initiation into the Christian Church. It offers the sacrament of Baptism to people of all ages. We strongly believe that membership is not a pre-requisite for receiving the sacrament of Baptism. Having a sponsor for baptism is optional. Sponsors or Godparents are to encourage the child in their faith journey throughout their lives. The Wednesday evening before the Baptism, the parents, child and sponsors meet with one of the ministers and two congregational representatives for a session on the meaning of baptism, followed by a rehearsal.

Families wishing to have their children baptized are asked to speak with Barry or Evelyn or contact the church office to register.
