Handbells Choirs I & II
Thanks to a donation in 1987 of a three-octave set of Schulmerich Handbells, two handbell choirs were organized at Eden. Over the years, additional bells and handchimes have been purchased and the bell choirs now enjoy performing on a 4 ½-octave set of bells supplemented by a three-octave set of handchimes.
"Eden Bells" consists of players ranging from teens to seniors. Some music-reading ability is an asset but previous bell-ringing experience is not necessary. Eden Bells rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7-8 p.m. The group is led by Barbara Cogan, a Peel music teacher.
"Eden Bells aPeel" performs bell music at an advanced level and has gained a reputation for excellence in its almost 20-year history. Most members have been ringing for five years or more and have attended many handbell festivals, conferences and events. They are conducted by Stuart Sladden and rehearse weekly on Wednesdays from 8-9:30 p.m.
