Mapping a Geography of Hope
Mapping a Geography of Hope in a world plagued by gloom and doom is the theme of the annual KAIROS Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Regional Conference 2008. Keynote speaker, Chris Turner, will start off the weekend discussing the quest that led to the publication of his bestselling book, A Geography of Hope: a Tour of the World We Need. This event will be open to the general public as well as to conference participants and be followed by a book signing. A variety of workshops will expand the vision of hope with concrete examples of ideas that work to empower sustainable living through fair trade, micro-credit, human rights and green energy. To complement the theme, a fair trade fair will be open Friday evening and Saturday. Saturday evening will feature “We’re All in the Same Stew”, Ilene Cummings’ intriguing one-woman show examining life today on planet earth.
The Conference will take place at the Mount Mary Immaculate Retreat Centre in Ancaster, ON from September 19-21. For further information contact the conference registrar, Gail Turner. g_turner@rogers.com
