Our Committees

Stewardship and Finance

Chair: Brian MacLean

The responsibilities of the Stewardship and Finance Committee are:

  1. To promote and cultivate a full sense of Christian Stewardship, including the stewardship of tissue, terrain, time, talents, and treasure, among all members, adherents, groups and committees of the congregation, and
  2. To oversee, and to be accountable for, the financial affairs of the congregation.

In late 2005, the Stewardship and Finance Committee sponsored a very successful "Celebrating Stewardship" program, which focused on "a theology of stewardship that highlights the abundance of God's love for us and our desire and need to respond abundantly to that love." A special committee of dedicated volunteers in the congregation planned and executed a very successful five-week program which resulted in renewed financial commitment to the work and ministry at Eden.

In early 2006, we introduced a second phase of this stewardship program called "StewARTship", which is aimed at securing renewed commitments from the congregation in non-financial areas. Congregation members are encouraged to do an inventory of their time, talents and skills, and then decide how they can contribute to the life and work of Eden.

Each year the Stewardship and Finance Committee sponsors a fundraising campaign through selling flower bulbs. The bulbs are sold after Church services for a few weeks in the spring and fall, and the profit goes to help support the overall ministry at Eden.

Meetings: We meet on the third Monday of each month.
